Going back to school (again)

I am a lifelong learner. I’m always looking for new ways to do things, to improve my process and skills, or add something new.

I have decided to start a 7 course series to obtain a Google UX Design Professional Certificate. I’ve been interested in design my whole life, but haven’t felt like I had the qualifications to integrate a complete UX process into my workflow. I only know what I’ve learned from my own observations and research over the years. So I figured it was time to make it a little more official.

The Courses

  1. Foundations of User Experience (UX) Design
  2. Start the UX Design Process: Empathize, Define, and Ideate
  3. Build Wireframes and Low-Fidelity Prototypes
  4. Conduct UX Research and Test Early Concepts
  5. Create High-Fidelity Designs and Prototypes in Figma
  6. Build Dynamic User Interfaces (UI) for Websites
  7. Design a User Experience for Social Good & Prepare for Jobs

What I’ll learn

  • Follow the design process: empathize with users, define pain points, ideate solutions, create wireframes and prototypes, test and iterate on designs
  • Understand the basics of UX research, like planning research studies, conducting interviews and usability studies, and synthesizing research results
  • Apply foundational UX concepts, like user-centered design, accessibility, and equity-focused design
  • Create a professional UX portfolio that includes 3 end-to-end projects: a mobile app, a responsive website, and a cross-platform experience

Skills I’ll gain

  • User Experience (UX)
  • Prototype
  • Wireframe
  • User Experience Design (UXD)
  • UX Research
  • Mockups
  • Figma
  • Usability Testing
  • UX design jobs

Prepare for a career in UX Design

  • Receive professional-level training from Google
  • Demonstrate your proficiency in portfolio-ready projects
  • Earn an employer-recognized certificate from Google
  • Qualify for in-demand job titles: User Experience (UX) Designer, UI Designer, Interaction Designer

I’m really excited to get started and I’ll be sharing my journey along the way!
